Liquefied Petroleum Gas(LPG)is the generic name for commercial propane and commercial butane in their pure form individually or as a mixture of both.Its high calorific value and clean burning properties make this fuel more efficient and better for the environment.LPG provides a convenient means of heating and cooking as well as other direct energy applications.

Good housekeeping

Proper warning notices must be posted around LPG systems to make people aware of potential hazards.

Smoking around LPG facilities must be strictly prohibited

All employees must wear suitable personal protection equipment(PPE)

Keep any security fences provided for the tank in good condition.

Keep the gate(s) locked shut

If there is no fence, keep the tank valve cover locked and keep the keys in a handy place.

Keep combustibles away from the tanks and ensure weeds/grass is kept down.

Don’t use chlorate-based weed killer, as this can be a fire hazard.

Keep vehicles away from the installation.

Entry into installations should be by authorized persons only.

Screen away all ignition sources i.e. electrical equipment, vehicles, bonfires, barbeques etc.

Make sure the “No Smoking signs” and any other notices are maintained.

Protect ground pipe work from accidental damage. Make sure you know the route underground piping takes and avoid putting anything which may damage the pipe work or the tank in the ground.

Communicate operating instructions and the emergency actions to parties concerned. Ensure everyone in the premises is aware of them.

Don’t make any modifications, which may affect the installation

If in doubt, ask Gas Terminalling for advice. The tank must not be painted by anyone other than Gas Terminalling. Only let a Gas Terminalling authorized engineer work on the installation.
